I’m Doing That Thing.

When trying to come up with something to blog about, it occurred to me that I have fallen into that common blog trap–simply writing about mundane shit that probably no one cares to read about. When I first started blogging I told myself that I would *not* do that–my mission statement was to have a blog that discussed worthwhile or out-of-the-ordinary topics rather than how many packets of Splenda I put in my oatmeal this morning. But now my blog posts are more akin to the latter than the former. I apologize to my long-time fans–I haven’t had any meaningful or thought-provoking blog posts in a while. I’ll work on that.

My New Home

I’m currently attempting to make the transition to WordPress. What do you all think? I’ve even got a nice disclaimer up there so people won’t accidentally see or read something they disagree with.

About Blogging

To answer some questions…

1) I will not stop blogging; I do need a creative outlet and I’ve met too many great people on here to just up and disappear;

2) My main gripe with the warning is that it makes my blog unlisted in the Blogger search engine–meaning that new people won’t just stumble into my blog anymore and discover the tasty deliciousness that is GL4DD;

3) I am considering splitting my blog out into several, smaller blogs, focused on my different interests; that way, the blogs that cover more personal information won’t be overshadowed by the occasional butt-hump here and there.

Crap Clearinghouse I: Assorted Faggotry

I’ll be closing this blog down soon, so I’m going through my computer and finding all the stuff I wanted to share with you, and throwing it together for your viewing enjoyment. Today’s theme is “assorted faggotry” which I’ve found all over the Internets and which makes me wonder about my ridiculous species. WARNING: In all likelihood, this post will contain cocks.

I should have known that this post would contain cocks. Stay tuned, as I have a whole hell of a lot more crap to share with you before I pull the plug.

Objectionable!

My blog has been flagged by one or more of my readers as being objectionable. So now people have to verify that they want to see objectionable content before they come to my blog. Let this be a lesson to you: this is what happens when you post dick pics.

I wonder if I can (or should) make my blog unobjectionable? Perhaps I should be more fair and balanced; you know, present both sides of an argument. For example, on the subject of homosexuality: should fags be stoned to death as the Bible commands, or simply stripped of their civil rights and forced to lead discreet, sub-standard lives? Favoring one over the other is just not fair; I need to give both options equal time.

Or maybe I need to limit the extent of my discourse to such topics as:

  • Norman Rockwell paintings
  • Anecdotes of family gatherings (only fond ones, none of the ones that end up with people drunk and shooting themselves)
  • Assorted hand-drawn pictures of horses
  • Cookie recipes (only delicious ones)
  • In-depth planning advice for throwing a flawless debutante ball
  • Discussion about upcoming church events
  • Pictures of animals wearing outfits
  • Doilies

Yes, a capital idea! I shall make this a blog about doilies. Here is a fine specimen I found on Google:

Whoever made that doily is a true artisan. It is important to recreate the fine art of classic Americana for a new generation; few things are as historically significant and aesthetically pleasing as a vintage doily pattern. Nothing can tie a table together like a well-placed doily.

Blasphemer of Noodles

I’ve finally decided to pull The Noodly One off my blog. Not that I don’t admire or salute the proponents of Flying-Spaghetti-Monsterism, but their logo kept on getting distorted whenever I wanted to display it on my blog.. and a distorted FSM logo looks mighty crappy.

On top of that, I had spaghetti for dinner this evening. Either I’ve committed blasphemy or I’ve partaken of the Host, I can’t figure out which.

50,000 Hits

I just realized this morning that I’ve been hit on over 50,000 times. Holy CRAP. I don’t know if this is due to my amazing talent to produce content that people want to experience, or if Google search indexing is just that effective.

500+ posts, 50,000+ hits… that’s roughly 100 visitors per post. It’ll still be a while before I’m in the big leagues, but I’m getting there. I bet if I put some advertising on here, I could make enough money to fund some of my favorite habits…

Oh, and as far as what I think the best thing in the world is… I am very, very tempted to say the Internet. It’s like an adjunct part of my physical being now, a digital circulatory system of sorts. Without it, I would never have discovered some amazing people, nor would I have heard music that’s defined my life, nor would I have had my mind opened to the extent that I have.

500th Blogger Post

This is my 500th post here on Blogger. Somehow I’ve managed to cobble together 500 posts about things you all (or at least 44,000+ of you) seem to like reading/viewing/listening to. That makes me feel all special. If I didn’t think I had a kickass audience, I would have stopped blogging long ago. So… thanks everyone for your support!
